Little Brother - Curtain Call (Video)

For my last post of the day let's get some Little Brother.  While I sit back and watch Miami vs Boston, and chill I leave y'all with this song... Curtain Call

Drake - Over (Video)

What the heck is going on in this video? A bed, street lights, people shadows, and Drake emo?  So we all know Drake has probably the most highly anticipated album since Jay-Z/Eminem last year but seriously what's goin on?  I saw the video for a good 2/3rds way through and I'm still confused.  Why couldn't we just get a Drake doing it like old school Cash Money in 00.  Oh well I'm not the one making the millions I'm just a fan, so let's hope the album is nothing but fire...

Ciara - Basic Instinct (U Got Me) Video

Ciara goin hard? On this track she goes pretty gangsta and I actually like it.  I'm happy to see Ciara not follow Beyonce and Rihanna completely and take this different route, but let's wait and see what else she has in her arsenal..

B.o.B. feat Eminem - Airplanes pt 2

Instead classic right here need I say more?  The beat for this track is on point, the hook has a melody, and the rhymes are too sick to repeat.  If you don't believe me check it out on HipHopDx yourself...

Lil Wayne - Single (Video)

Good track, Drake sounding track, Lil Wayne at his best, what more to say...

Ludacris & Mystikal - MOVE (REUNION)

Mystikal got out of a jail a little bit ago, and here he is bringing back some old magic.  Luda and Mystikal with a class track fo sho, check it out...

J. Cole - I Get Up (Video)

We got J. Cole who is the Roc Nations flagship artist out with a new song which is real chill.  At this point we know J can make some good music especially after watching this "I Get Up" music video, but the question still remains on whether he can make a hot album.  When you have Jay-Z and Kanye West in your corner it is highly possible to do create a banger, so Cole probably doesn't have much to worry about.

50 Cent's Black Magic?

I'm back with some old news again, this time it is on our good old friend 50 Cent.  According to sources 50 will be dropping a new album which he said is for this summer, and it is supposed to have dance music.  I myself was really anticipating the highly disappointing BISD album, and now with this dance concept stuff I find myself more in a space of what tha!  Oh well, when you have millions of dollars and are touring overseas I guess it doesn't matter, right?

FULL Absolut Vodka Jay-Z video

Tone Spliff: Authentic

Another month and another new submission, this time I was fortunate enough to get a chance and interview Tone Spliff.  If you don't know already, Tone is from New York and is a producer who is making his mark in Hip Hop while working with some very prominent acts.  So here is your chance to read on Tone Spliff and make sure you check out that mixtape.

How long have you been involved in Hip Hop?

Since I was around the age of 15...started off 80's rock age 10-14....then got introduced to 2 Live Crew when I was 14 or 15

What are you currently listening to right now?

that new Rustee Juxx & Marco Polo "Exxecution" / Statik Selectah "100 Proof" / alot of old Gang Starr.

Who are your inspirations and why?

There are alot, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Marley Marl, Large Pro, J Dilla, and many more.

Now I know you went from rapping to producing while also being a DJ, do you plan on getting back rapping full time ever again or doing it like Kanye?

I was a hit or miss MC...I liked 3 of my verses I've ever wrote....I find comfort and peace behind the scenes....so I won't be picking up a mic to rhyme anytime soon.

Tell us a little bit about the your mixtape, what can we expect?

Alot of tracks with that 90's hip hop feel to it....alot of guest appearances from artists Tizz, Krumbsnatcha, Copywrite, Murdoc, King Dom, Baby Blak, Apathy, Royce Da 5'9, Special Teamz (Edo G, Jaysaun, Slaine), Born Talent, King Magnetic, Rise, Irealz, Planet Asia, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Jukstapose, Chaundon, Braille, Wordsworth, Okwerdz, Skyzoo & Pace Won.

How long did it take for you to get this mixtape together?

Over a year & a half....with picking the artists, picking beats, mixing and mastering...it takes alot of hard work to organize a compilation.

What do you feel is the most difficult thing when collaborating on a track?

Its not to difficult...I'll send a beat to an artist & either give them a theme, or let them come up with something on their own...then I'll pass it to the next artist and they follow topic.

Now as a fellow producer I know we all use different equipment to get our tracks done, I personally use Reason & FL Studio.  What is the equipment involved to make a Tone Spliff track?

It depends...I have alot of beats...I have beats I made with a MPC2000xl...I have beats I made with Technic CDJ's....I have beats I made with my new MPC500.....and I have 2 Technic 1200's for sampling vinyl. I use Sony Acid to map out the tracks....then I have it mastered at Rock Wit Us Records or J.A. Castle Recording Studios...both located in Utica NY

What are some future projects we can expect from Tone Spliff?

I am currently working on my new compilation...and its sounding AMAZING....lots more features...so far I announced (Craig G, Emilio Rojas, Blacastan, Chaundon, Termanology, El Da Sensei, Phil the Agony, C Rayz Walz, A.G., Eternia, Rasco, Irealz, Copywrite & Fresh Daily)....so keep a eye out for that.

One thing I respect is the work you put in, I read that you are working a 9-5 and still finding time to get your music done.  How do you find time to DJ, and keep Producing at such a high level?

Its real rough....but I love hip hop music....so I work on music on my off days...I wish I could work full time on music though.

Thanks for your time, Any words for the readers?

Thank you for reading, and stay tuned for a real dope compilation in the works!!! Im currently running a contest for artists to get on it...check my page tonespliff.comfor details.

50 Cent Movie Trailer: Twelve

I can't believe 50 Cent is in a movie like this.  I have no idea what's going with homie, but he needs to leave this acting stuff as soon as possible.  I do support diversifying a portfolio and all that stuff, the one thing Curtis shouldn't invest in though is acting classes.

Mary J. Blige - Each Tear (Feat. Jay Sean)

This song right here is a nice and real track.  Jay Sean and Mary J are on point with what they sing on the track, and video is pretty chill.  Check it out for yourself...

Dr. Dre and Jay-Z = Under Pressure

I decided to wait till after April 1st to get my posts out, and I'm glad I did.  News is Dr. Dre and Jay-Z are working on a track for Detox, Dre has made some Boston Red Sox headphones, and this potential track has a 12 second snippet on Allhiphop.  Check out the link for the snippet which is ridiculous for its little time. Oh yeah and if you want the news from the man himself, here is Dre hitting some baseballs and giving us a small interview...
