Eminem & Jay-Z on DJ Hero?

I've never heard of this game and that could be because I'm busy with trying to find a job, and getting back into school. Anyways this game is supposed to have content by both Jay-Z and Eminem, and is called DJ Hero. Honestly its 4 a.m. in the morning so I will read up on this some more, but for those video game head's this looks pretty interesting. They also say music by other rappers will be involved, and could contain unreleased material. Hip Hops Dead? Ok, You're Right (Sarcasm)!

Soulja Boy Album $2.99

Talk about wanting some album sales or trying to sell in a recession, Soulja Boy is wanting to get his music heard and his numbers up. I do wonder if this tactic is gonna work, and if it does will it lower margins on cd sales and raise numbers? Let's wait and see....

Akon Against Guns

I liked this article with Akon because it finally gives him a headline, which isn't directly related to his being involved in a negative way. Yes this comes at the heels of rapper Dolla's death, but to raise awareness is still a big issue. I do feel incident's shouldn't cause celebrities to act, they should constantly be in the state of helping others if they can.

The-Dream feat Kanye West - Walking on the Moon

Mr. 1980's aka Mr. West is back featured on the track with The-Dream. With all this retro stuff I'm sure the cartoons of the 80's are almost back also, and the tight jeans sure do remind me of that time. Anyways, let me get out of this time capsule and say that this song is pretty cool and different, plus these two dudes crack me up throughout the video lol.

Fabolous feat. Jeremih - It's My Time

The video is finally out for this song, and man it goes hard. I think Fabolous comes official on this one, and I can't wait to see what he has in store for his album.

Slaughterhouse Gear Up Debut

According to this article the group Slaughterhouse has created an album in a week, and also are said to have got there deal signed too. The deal for this super group is through E1 Music and is an independent deal. If you don't know who they are, Slaughterhouse consists of Royce Da 5'9", Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I. Some of there music is posted on this blog if you want to search it, and I do feel they will bring something special to the game. What is really interesting to me is to see if someone will try to diss them, because they have some lyrical and respected rappers in this group.

Where is Jay-Z signing?

This Roc Nation thing is starting to become bigger news by the day. Once the news found out Jay-Z was a free agent his worth has sky rocketed, but who wants him? So far Live Nation seems like they have backed out of there reportedly $150 million dollar deal, and now Sony, Warner Music Group, and Atlantic seem like the front runners. I think this decision will be made according to what connections each company has, and what they have to offer of course. Let's see if it's worth it especially in this new age of audio entertainment.

I don't know what the heck is going on with Jimmy Iovine and G-Unit but it does seem interesting. Sha Money a long time associate of 50 Cent, drops his opinions about some situations and mishandlings in this interview from Rap Basement. I guess the business is as shady as they say...

C-Murder is Gone for 10

The news is in and C-Murder pleaded no contest to his attempted murder charge giving him 10 years in jail. One of the more prominent rappers on the record label No Limit created by his cousin in the 90's, C-Murder was known for his street rhymes on the mic. I hope C learn's and understand's something from all of this, and with the help of Master P can find another path which is more productive for him, his family, and his friends.

Roc Nation: Free Agents?

So when Jay-Z signed his $150 million dollar deal with Live Nation we thought big things were poppin. Now that Jigga has his release from Def Jam, he is shopping his Roc Nation label around, and honestly let me tell you that I'm not sure anyone will buy in a recession, but I could be wrong. Lately the talk is that the label will be signing with Sony but is it worth it? The economy is struggling, these artists and labels gauge success by a outdated source "album sales" and the new age income is still trying to be understood. Plus have we all forgot that Jay has had a bad showing, and high demands for shows. Don't get me wrong he is a legend, but the risk might be too high compared to the reward for a Record Label.

Tony Yayo's Jealous

The title says it all for me about this topic. G-Unit's loyal member Tony Yayo recently sat down in an interview, and stated that rapper The Game's 2005 hit album 'The Documentary' was supposed to be his own. It has taken Yayo four years to make a statement like this so I'm 100% sure he said this to get some exposure. If I remember correctly 2-4 tracks off that album were supposedly 50 Cent's also. Do I hear grown men talking? Nope, we still got children in Hip Hop, Grown Children.

Lol this acting bug has hit 50 pretty hard and I'am impressed. This guy has a strong focus on acting, I just wish he had the same drive towards his music. Anyways this is a picture of 50 Cent from his new movie where he is supposed to be a cop informant. For some reason this role seems like a breakout one for 50, and no I'm not implying anything but I heard a while back he might have told on someone.....

Bloodraw - My Life

Is it me or are people realizing that REAL music is what Hip Hop needs, and us as people need in a time of a struggling economy and high unemployment. Honestly the inspiration that these new songs I have recently found really do help. These days we have been hit up with some fun vocoder tracks, but the change to real stories and music speaking on truth have for me, created a new inspiration to listen and actually check out songs. For a while the want and motivation was gone but now it is slowly coming back, and Bloodraw with his song about his life has me thinking of my life.

CurT@!n$ - Black Folks

WHO SAID HIP HOP IS DEAD!!! Man this track is real and it goes way too hard. I'm not black but man the history mentioned, the detail, and the lyrics are very powerful by CurT@!n$. On point is an understatement for this track. I hope this guy get's the shine he deserves as long as he keeps it real. With a track like this though I don't think he will have a problem.

Mykestro - In California

From the hardcore Two Five track to this chillin West Coast track. I'm feelin the beat it's real chill and smooth. I can just sit back and cruise to this whether in or not in California.

Two Five - Red Light Green Light

I think 50 had a song like this but Two Five has this track going hard. Red Light Green Light is not a bad track as a first single, IF that's what it really is...

Rick Ross feat Avery Storm - Rich Off Cocaine

I really don't think Ross is rich off cocaine but the song is nice. Good beat by the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and great hook by Avery Storm. I will forget the background on Rick Ross for this track lol.

Hip Hop Downfall?

You have got to be kidding me! In this article Bun B along with other rappers break down the state of hip hop. Personally I feel Hip Hop has gotten so big that now it can safely be in competition with Rock, Pop, etc. Before there was a time where Hip Hop was against the grain, and still while it has some of those aspects, the commercial appeal is still on a high level. Here is the article for you to read and decide whether or not these rappers have an idea about what's going on, or if they just want some media time.

The Charles Hamilton Punching Saga

I know news has been slow for me lately but seriously there is nothing. Since I feel there is nothing I think the best way to show it is with this little drama series between Charles Hamilton and the girl who punched him in the face. According to Eminem its true. After Em is 50 then Dre but these days I'm wondering if we can skip the middle step. Relapse Highest Seller?

News surrounding Eminems new album sounds pretty good. People have been out and purchasing Slim Shady's latest effort "Relapse" and his sales could reflect that. According to HitsDailyDouble, Eminem's cd is expected to sell in the range of 600-700k, but that number could increase during the week. Congrats Eminem if the numbers are legit, this will get you on pace for another platinum cd!

50 Cent, Rick Ross Beef Over?

Sounds like 50 is throwing in the white flag according to DJ Whoo Kid. In this interview Whoo Kid said that 50 got the promotion he wanted from his feud with Rick Ross. Personally I feel like he wasn't gaining any ground, and he might have got himself busy with other things. Eminem's 1st Interview on Kevin Nottingham

Browsing around the internet going to my favorite sites, when one of my all time favorites www.KevinNottingham.com has a post of a Eminem interview. Yep sounds cool right, but the cool part is that this is Eminem's 1st ever interview. Yeah 1st EVER!!!

Watch Video Here

Busta Rhymes - Back On My BS

Yep I know this came out yesterday too, but with everything that has happened in the past few days for myself, I thought it would be important to show that even though things are tough we are moving forward. In music this means albums are being released, and the quality is driving up, while in politics it means business are showing earnings and stocks are rising up. I know there are some crooked aspects in both, but lets just enjoy the fact that hope is around the corner. So until we get more push towards future prosperity, I'm gonna take a page from Busta's new album 'Back On My BS', and try to get my "Arab Money"!!!

Method Man & Redman - Black Out 2

The album is in stores, and I thought I should have a post for it, because it is a good album. With the overshadowing of a Marshall Mathers album, Meth & Red should be recognized also. Let's see if there are enough sales to share this week.

Eminem the Marketing Genius?

Well we all on the internet know how Eminem and his album 'Relapse' have had viral marketing for a few months now. From the fake rehabilitation center, to the twitter account, Interscope fed Eminem as much money as it seems to get him pushed as the biggest product of 2009. The result? We are still waiting on that but it seems like 500k records sold is a reality. I think with myspace, the mobile game, the candy pills, and other marketing tools Eminem has done what I had said earlier, and that is he changed how a rapper could market a cd. Right now, the old formula is being used and it isn't connecting with fans. If rappers can get some financial backing from the industry, and socially network, along with creating the album as an event I feel the sales will come. What if another rapper made an event after his rap title? Before I Self Destruct, LupEnd, BluePrint 3? Hey guys we might need some work on your album names.

RELAPSE IS OUT TODAY!!!

Well the day is finally here, and why don't we let a small commercial from Family Guy help break us in. This week is the week for Hip Hop this year, and soon we will see where King Mathers stands in this struggling genre of music, or so they say.

Ace Hood - Overtime

This track is featuring Akon and T-Pain and I really like the message that is being sent in the song. Check it for yourself, hopefully this get's some more recognition, because in these times I think we need songs for inspiration and motivation.

Eminem is in Funny People

Saturday is basically Eminem day for me because of all the material that has been coming out. Those who want to keep the album as a surprise I recommend not previewing it, because it has leaked nearly everywhere. My opinion on the album is that it is above average, but that could because I had/have high expectations for Eminem. I might just have to listen to it more to understand his complex mind, but on a lighter subject Slim will be in a comedy this year. In the movie Funny People which features Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler, Eminem makes a small cameo. It's good to see Eminem coming back and feeling better.

Eminem - Careful What You Wish For

My goodness these bonus tracks by Eminem are crazy. I don't think there has been a rapper bigger than Eminem in this decade. Arguably the highest selling Hip Hop artist ever, Slim Shady has shown over and over again why he is top 5. Tupac, Biggie, Eminem top 3? Maybe......

Here is the video with Eminem's interview on Jimmy Kimmel along with his performance. Man I can't wait!!!

The Game Needs Material

On Sohh rapper The Game spoke about his next album called the Red Album, and the topics he might or could cover. According to him, he doesn't know what to rap about and wants to keep his album beef free. Now as we know, when rappers start getting paid and make a lot of money, they lose the base that they rapped about in there lyrics. When they lose the environment that helped them create the music, they lose stories. In this case The Game has acknowledged that he has rapped about everything he has wanted to, but to keep an album beef free he cannot name drop which is his main thing to do. I'am interested to see what he drops as his next album, but the biggest thing for The Game should be individualism. He has been following 50 Cent too long, and he needs to be his own man.

Hip Hop Split Into Regions

Earlier today I put up a post on why I feel 50 Cent's career in Hip Hop could be finished. This post right here is about how I feel Hip Hop has split itself up, and this split is causing a mixed reaction to Hip Hop as a whole.

I remember days on the radio when music from NYC would be blazed here in Texas daily. When top 10 countdowns would have songs from all over the United States. When the radio didn't have a biased on what they played and when they played it. These days I feel that Hip Hop is being split up and marginalized instead of unified.

Sure you have the songs by Rappers where they all get featured on a track. The best examples are anything from Florida which is usually for Florida, Swagger Like Us, One Blood (Remix), Mafia Music (Remix), Draped Up (Remix), etc. just to name a few. Now one thing about these songs, is they don't really have a meaningful topic. The only one that could is One Blood, because it had everyone on there and that was the only track I can remember that showed Hip Hop unity.

Personally I feel that even though this Regional split isn't being too spoken about in Hip Hop, it does affect the way we are listening to music, and what music is being played on the radio. These days we are also being able to see different areas prosper or have there time to shine within our rap communities. The best examples of this are Houston in 2005, and Florida in 2006-2007. The problem's come in when fans have to choose between rappers in a Hip Hop beef which can split up a fan base. During Hip Hop beefs fans have chosen between East Coast and West Coast, East vs South, etc. New Yorkers feel they are living in the Mecca of Hip Hop, while Southerners are the current state of the Genre. All the hate being passed around by radio stations is also affecting how people perceive other regions music. When you hear something from your local radio station and that music is 95% from the region, a certain monotony sets in for what you can listen to in your town. Some people buy into this is what the music should be or this is hot, and they never allow themselves to try new things. Those people who get stuck with the radio play are missing out on the diversity of the music as a whole.

Over 3 decades Hip Hop has grown into a global phenomenon with rappers being from anywhere and everywhere, while rapping in several different languages. Those people who have felt that Hip Hop is dead, or Hip Hop is dying need to ask themselves why. Is it just the snap music? Bubble gum rap music? Or overall commercialization of the music? Honestly, underground Hip Hop has touched many real life issues, and a lot of prominent rappers are getting more money by going independent. By being independent though, they might not have enough money to reach the other markets in the US or World which could hurt there exposure. If this is a main case, we need to find a way to have over the phone interview or something of that sort, because we have all the media outlets available to us especially in this internet era.

So in general I feel Hip Hop is still split into regions, and this is hurting album sales, and commercial appeal of artists. If you have any opinions about the topic or feel I have left something out let me know. Remember just because you read it somewhere it isn't always true or right. Everyone is entitled to there own opinions, so please share yours.

50 Cent is Finished

Bold statement? Or straight facts. The man known as Curtis "Interscope" Jackson is seeing rough times as we all are in a recession. From selling over 10 million copies of his debut album, to not even breaking 3 million on his last release, Curtis has fallen off the radar when it comes to his music.

Once critically acclaimed and heralded as the next 2Pac, 50 Cent has shown no improvement in his MC abilities since that time. Why could he be done? Well, for one, when in the past to gauge success all you did was compare record sales, and everything was nice and happy. When record sales started slipping for everyone and G-Unit also got hit by this (nobody is immune to this not even 2Pac) enemies stopped bringing up the topic (except Camron) and 50 Cent minimized his bragging. Another thing that was important to fuel the empire of Curtis was Hip Hop beefs. From Ja Rule all the way to Rick Ross, 50 Cent had created beefs with a big number of high profile rappers. How many of these beefs had 50 Cent won? Well he beat Ja lyrically, and thats about it. Fat Joe beat himself, Jadakiss and Nas never got mentioned enough, Nas hit 50 hard with a few lines, The Game continues his love hate relationship with his former boss, Rick Ross dropped more music material (this beef could been seen as a tie) Camron somewhat got beat, and Young Buck basically beat himself. So once again 50 Cent has lyrically beatin one rapper out of the set.

Don't get me wrong, I like 50 Cent and I like good music, this man's business sense is very sharp, but I will not even mention everything else that has flopped or struggled in other work that he has been involved with. The Vitamin Water deal was amazing, but that wasn't Hip Hop. 50 Cent's acting resume is steadily increasing but most of that isn't Hip Hop (only the movie loosely based on him was), his video games and tv series are also out of the question.

So in the past 3 years, what relevance has 50 Cent had in Hip Hop? His charitable works are something other rappers should consider if they can. But honestly he has dropped a total of 3 albums from his label which include Young Buck, 50 Cent, and G-Unit and they all have struggled. There was once a time when this man was a #1 hit waiting to happen, and now he is struggling to break the top 50. Oh yeah I can't forget the fact that 50 has changed up his flow to the dismay of a lot of fans. The aggressiveness that was once present in his debut album has slowly crept its way out of this man. When 50 get's excited these days its about money, and jewelry, and how he can spend more than you. Trust me I would love to have those bragging rights but these days I just wanna stay up.

So once again, lyrically 50 Cent isn't even a top 5 rapper and this is why his time as a Hip Hop giant is diminishing if not gone. There is one thing though, he still has some pull when it comes to his celebrity status. People are still infatuated with this man even if that infatuation has become less over the years. My only plea to 50 Cent is please bring back that aggressiveness that was there 5 years ago. I know Banks is trying to.......

PS: If you think 50 Cent murdered The Game think again. Yes Game's record sales have slipped each album, but his relevance in the West has made him an untouchable celebrity on that coast. Also, 50 has toned down other beef's with some rappers aka Jadakiss & Nas because I think he knows he cannot win those. Oh I did forget to mention 50's beef with the whole south, but I wonder if it is just because he wants to have some popularity.

Eminem - Relapse Bonus Tracks!

J The S - Dr. Dre

I have never heard of this guy before but listen to this track because he speaks on the real. Many things that I feel were mentioned in this song, so I might like it more than others. My personal biased in this isn't too strong, because if you hear the track this guy speaks all facts. That is how I feel about the song, what do you think....

K'Naan - T.I.A.

New video from K'Naan and this is hot. This dude just keeps on impressing me I just wish his commercial appeal would become bigger. Stupid Industry.....

Glasses Malone - Sixty Million Dollar Flow

Man this track is fire from G. Malone. I know this has been out for a few days but I rarely get a chance to check out new music. Today I decided to allow myself to hear a few tracks that seemed interesting and this didn't disappoint. Glasses Malone is representing the West Coast nice in this track. One thing though, I don't think he has a Sixty Million Dollar Flow, but you can judge that for yourself.

Tony Yayo - They Hate

This song by Tony Yayo is on how the internet hates on him and basically he is supposedly rapping about it (I don't think he is). I have never been a fan of this guy, but I do find the beat of this song pretty nice. In the video you see clips of the big blog sites like 2dopeboyz, Onsmash, etc. which is cool.

Montauk Monster

Ok this thing is pretty crazy. I know this is not Hip Hop, but with all the BullS**t news going around I decided I might check out some interesting real world stuff for a minute. I found this article on Yahoo speaking about a new monster that has the internet going crazy. Personally I don't think I'am going crazy about it but this thing is very cool. This monster looks dead in the photos but I was wondering what would happen if it was alive. If you check the pictures you can see it has some very, VERY sharp looking teeth. In an era where we are getting mutants, could this be a real life one? I'm not really sure, but until we start getting mutant people with super powers, I guess we will have to live with these monsters first.

I do say over demanding because it is the truth. While I was reading SoHH, I found this piece on what Jigga required as his concert demands for the "Last Smash Platinum Bash." If you don't remember, that is the concert that went negative a while back with Kelly Clarkson also in the show. Here is the exerpt as it is on SoHH,

The chart-topping performer did not get every perk requested in his concert rider, since the school does not provide artists with alcohol, tobacco, or $400,000 luxury vehicles. Jay-Z demands that promoters provide him with ground transportation while he is in town performing. Specifically, the rap star requires a late-model black Maybach (either the 57 or 62 model) with tinted windows. Carter's dressing room must be stocked with Sapporo beer, vodka, tequila, and two bottles of $300 Champagne and two bottles (at $200 apiece) of 2004 Sassicaia, which his rider helpfully describes as a "Red, Italian Wine from Bolgheri Region." Additionally, Carter requires "Good Quality" peanut butter and jelly, one martini shaker, 12 shot glasses, and a pack of Marlboro Lights. A marked-up copy of the Jay-Z rider, provided by the University of Arizona, includes the school's deletion of items it declined to provide the rapper. (The Smoking Gun)

Now with this information given to us as readers, I do feel Jay-Z is a legendary rapper and a staple in Hip Hop for life, but this is ridiculous. The car is too pricey and so is all that alcohol, cigarettes, and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. LOL, it says good quality PB & J so I guess Jay wanted that flown in from France or something. Now the alcohol demands has me thinking maybe Jay is an alcoholic, I mean why do you need all that stuff? Personally I would get myself an SUV, have some food covered, and that's about it. It is crazy to me how these guys say the state of Hip Hop is getting ruined, and we need to help our communities, but they go along by themselves making demands like this. I'm happy the University did not buy into all of Jay-Z's demads but it is still sad to see him make demands from a school like this. Jay-Z is still in my top 5 as an artist, but as a person I don't think I would like to meet him.....
