Celebrity Tributes to MJ

I'm bout to make one really long post here for Michael Jackson the King of Pop. Please feel free to leave any positive comments here on this post. Michael will be missed deeply by many who got to enjoy his music for the past three decades. As a man Mr. Jackson had a very public and crazy life, but at the end he was a one of a kind legend. RIP....

RIP MICHAEL JACKSON 1958-2009

Nothing more to say.......

News Links: Click Here

Sean Paul - So Fine

Is it me or does his music still sound the same? Oh well, it's still pretty dope!

Outkast Coming Soon...?

Big Boi has said it, but how much longer do we have to wait for Dre?

Ciara feat Missy Elliot - Work

It's good to see Ciara working with Missy again, and it get's me thinking about if Missy's star power is dead. If you remember 5 years ago it was Missy who was on top of the game, and Ciara was trying to break through. Now its Ciara who has the celebrity status, and Missy has just disappeared from the spotlight. Comeback Missy!

50 Cent is Nearly Perfect?

Hey these are his words not mine and he said it about his album. I feel like it won't be that great, but I'm still excited to hear what he has to drop. Also, coming up in the next few months are another mixtape by 50 Cent, and a mixtape with G-Unit. Let's hope they can be super relevant again in Hip Hop.

Hip Hop Unity

I thank you for everyone who is/has checked out the video for Young Boy Thomas, and with a lot of music stuff going on for me lately I wanted to post this on Hip Hop. One of the hottest rappers for this year has complimented Soulja Boy which would seem funny, but if you think about it then it can be accepted. Drake stated that the young rapper Soulja Boy is one of the "Smartest rappers of our generation" which holds some validity. From a fresh age of 17 years old Soulja Boy broke onto the commercial Hip Hop scene with his "Crank Dat" single and hasn't looked back. His latest album had worse album sales, but it was still commercially successfull. Drake with his comment didn't go into specifics, but for me the specific is how Soulja Boy used the internet to create his buzz.

In a time where new artists were showing up but the hype was periodically, Soulja Boy got himself a nationwide hit and stayed relevant in Hip Hop for 2 years. Still with some immaturity, Soulja Boy has done a great job using the internet, and now many artists have followed that trend. Where there in a time people are losing jobs, rappers are dissing each other still for buzz, it's good to see the youngsters get together and push there music and help build up Hip Hop even more. When it comes back to the "Crank Dat" star, the question that could arise from this could be, Did Soulja Boy really find this first, or was he just lucky? Let me know wassup...

Saigon - Change Gon Come

I like this beat, and the video is nice.

Clipse feat Kanye West - Kinda Like a Big Deal

Here is the video finally...

Young De - Figure It Out feat. Xzibit & Mykestro

This track is for the West Coast but the video looks sooooo cool....

50 Cent: Back On His Grind?

So 50 Cent has stated that he is getting into the mentality he was in when he had no deal. The hunger and aggressiveness is what Curtis has said he is trying to recreate, but after hearing his latest mixtape I do have to say I'm a little disappointed. The 'War Angel LP' was supposed to bring 50 Cent back into the fold as the hardest rapper out there, and personally I feel it hasn't done that at all. When the album starts out it is very aggressive, but then 50 goes back to singing, trying a different accent, and just some more boring music. Yeah it can be repetitive to hear him speaking about drugs, killing, money, and other things but why can't he speak on other life topics on a global stage.

The man once hearlded as the next Tupac (RIP) has become nothing more but a gimmick that is now one dimensional. I love great music from any rapper out there including Ja Rule, and The Game as long as it bumps, so my question to 50 is, why are you still putting out material for fun when you need to be serious about your work? I doubt he will read this post on this blog, which doesn't even touch a million people worldwide like Thisis50.com, but maybe if it touches that handful of people and get's back to him then I've done what I wanted to do.

The Game - Bang Along

Man with all this West Coast love I'm putting up I feel sick (lol jk). This song by The Game goes hard the beat is very clean and smooth. Mr. Taylor does a great job on this track (and you thought all I did was post about 50 Cent). Nice story telling by The Game and even with a few references, this track had very good story telling. If this is what he will drop for his next album, well then I can't wait.

Lil Wayne con L.A. Lakers

Yeah I put with in Spanish so sue me lol. Anyways, the New Orleans proud rapper has gone Hollywood on us, and performed his Kobe Bryant song while with the L.A. Lakers. I for one am not a fan of the Lakeshow, but here is the performance because it is Hip Hop related. Oh yeah they said Kanye was there too.

The Mind of Mos Def

Awesome idea by Mos Def to promote his album and take advantage of the digital world. According to this HipHopDX article, Mos will be selling T-Shirts with his album cover and tracklisting on it, while giving customers a code to download the album online. Soundscan has already approved this to be counted as real album sales, so the next thing to do is wait and see how he sells. One thing I don't have is the price of the shirts but if your interested I'm sure you will be able to find them easily.

Nipsey Hussle - Strapped

I posted a song by Nipsey earlier and here is another one.

Tyler Woods - Prove Myself

I've never heard of this dude but since 9th Wonder has co-signed I'm down. This is a nice throwback beat by the Wonder, and it's pretty chill.

Nipsey Hussle - My Language

Man, this dude is too ill, is he signed with anyone does anybody know? West Coast banger!!!

Lil Flip's Comeback?

I know I've been slow on posting again, but life has been taking a toll on me lately. With that said, I hope everyone who is going through hard times can pull through. Now on the Hip Hop side of things, Lil Flip in this interview has said he will be coming back, and has 2k worth of songs on his cpu. So a comeback from a guy who isn't even relevant no more, sure......

Digga: Producer of Many Men

I got this from Thisis50.com on the man who made 50 Cent the hit song "Many Men" and his name is Digga. In this video Digga, recreates the classic track while letting us know a little about his background. Interesting interview indeed, and it let's you know that those producers who aren't even heard of can work with many big names.

Young Jeezy - 24, 23 (Gucci Mane and OJ Diss)

Finally someone went after these clowns. Personally I don't like the music by Gucci Mane, and OJ Da Juiceman, and I'm happy that Jeezy went in on them. The beef aspect hurts Hip Hop, but the fact that someone with some substance is going after 2 dudes who I really don't feel are that good is something I can support. Anyways, here is the track through HipHopDX and let me know what you think. Gimmick, or legit?

Young Jeezy - Get Allot (Remix)

Ok I know this song is old, but man Jeezy is sick, I can't wait for his next album.

Birdman, Lil Wayne - Always Strapped

Here is the video for the song that has the summer on lock so far. Not bad, but seriously, can't we bring more heat?

Autotune and Jay-Z

So Jay-Z's song is still not sitting right with people, but the makers of the autotune program Antares had no ill will towards the legend rapper. If you don't know, or haven't checked it yet, Jigga has a song called Death of Autotune, and it has a few people shaken up in the industry lately. Honestly I don't think this is as big of a deal as they are making it, and I feel the same way as Jay. Hip Hop always moves with trends, and nearly every rapper used the singing enhancer in the past 3 years. Let's move on towards better, and newer music while creating innovations in the style and beats we present.

Auto-Tune Responds To Controversy | Hip Hop News > HipHopDX.com

50 Cent: The War Angel LP

So 50 has decided to hit up the mixtape market once again to create hype for his next album, and the tracklisting looks pretty promising. Today he released a song called "Redrum" on his website, and it seems to me like he is trying to show his hunger on the track. The beat of the song is pretty good, but the hook sounds like something Tony Yayo would chop up. Anyways, 50's new mixtape is called 'War Angel' and is supposed to drop Tuesday. Let's hope 50 Cent provides some heat for this summer because so far it's been a pretty plain one.

Lil Wayne & Gucci Mane - We Be Steady Mobbin

So the best way for me to get music is off of 50 Cent's website, and I will try to find a way to get my own little player like his through that website. With that said, this song by Lil Wayne, and Gucci Mane is pretty sick. The bad part is they are not speaking on anything that is related to steady mobbin. One thing I know for sure is that Lil Wayne is a killer when he decides to take Hip Hop serious, his lyrics are pretty dope even if he does do a lil singing on the track. Gucci Mane drops his verse in this too, and even though I'm not a big fan of his he did pretty good too. Check out the track for yourself and see what you think.

Mos Def: Real Talk

I labeled this post real talk because Mos Def in this article spoke about why he thought Jay-Z is not the greatest rapper alive. Now don't get me wrong, I like Jay-Z, but Mos Def's claim in this was that there are still legends that are alive. I think people forget that the 1980's rappers are still alive, and these days they get no respect. Guys like Slick Rick, and Rakim who were mentioned by Mos in this article are still fairly active, and they do deserve the respect from the younger generation when it comes to claims. One thing about Jay-Z though is, that he has been around since the early 90's so he does have history on his side, but maybe to end all this controversy is to let everyone go at it in a battle.

Wouldn't that be an event, Jigga, Wayne, Eminem, Slick Rick, Rakim, etc. going at it in a real life battle? Of course it won't happen, but it does raise an interesting question. All the things that people use to guage the best rapper might not even be relevant. I for one did an article with rap sales and thought about moving that forward, but then I thought to myself, with the times the technology has changed making it tougher to make a clear choice. The good thing about this is that people can choose who they want with the many rappers available, and for Mos speaking his mind, props.

I didn't know The Alchemist rapped but he did ok on this track. It was real cool to hear Twista spit that fast fire again. Another cool and chill track.

Jadakiss Confirms Cam'Ron Collabo & Ruff Ryders Reunion

Well if the Hot Boys Reunion wasn't enough, now the Ruff Ryders are back (again) and they seem serious about there business. Earlier this week a remix to a song by Jadakiss dropped and it had nearly everyone from the past. In this post we got the "Whose Real Remix" and the link for the reunion article. I would also like to thank you to everyone following the blog, Hip Hop seems like it's going to have a ridiculous July.

D-Block Back With Diddy?

I got this news yesterday and I'm confused on why D-Block would go back and sign a deal with Diddy, even if it might be for 1 album. Anyways I feel that they shouldn't but this New York City reuniting thing is at another level right now, so it might be good. Let's hope they get fair compensation for this deal.

Mixtape Messiah Retired!

Thank god Chamillionaire cleared up the retirement news about his Hip Hop career. The Houston rapper has said that he will not retire from rap, but his Mixtape Messiah series will be finished as he wants to move on from that point of his career. Honestly I feel Chamillionaire is one of the most underrated in the rap game, so this move isn't too big for a lot of people, but when a rapper can drop a whole album without swearing, and make it relevant to the times situations, I think that is Hip Hop.

Wale - Family Affair

I don't know what the meaning of this song is but the beat is pretty sick. C'mon Wale, step ya game up homie, I know you got heat.

Cash Money's Freeway

Yessuh, the one time home of the Hot Boys has diversified itself a lot over the past few years, and now has former Rocafella artist Freeway. I got this news from Hiphopdx and it is a few days old, but I still wanted to post it because I think it will help both parties out. With the self proclaimed "Best Rapper Alive" in Lil Wayne, Cash Money hasn't really missed a step in Hip Hop. Now with Freeway, along with the West Coast side of the company, CMR has itself a real Label not a one Genre label. Congrats on the signing Baby, but please don't try to kiss Freeway on the lips.

Trick Daddy - This The S*** I Live (Rick Ross Diss)

So if Trick didn't make it obvious before, it is very straight forward now. Rick Ross has found himself in another high profile beef, but this time it is from a fellow Florida rapper. Once label mates, Trick has gone at Rick after Rick opened up his mouth again and let his ego do the talking. I personally feel Trick's career is over anyways so this beef is more for the South, particularly the Sunshine state.

Eminem vs Bruno

So by now everyone must have heard about the Eminem and Bruno controversy that has the whole internet world going banana's. If you don't know what happened, Sacha Cohen aka Borat aka Bruno, decided to come down from the rafters during the MTV Award's, and have his legs around a seated Eminem where Em saw Bruno's behind. Now during the show after Bruno did what he did, Eminem caused a small scene and looked pretty disturbed by what happened. According to sources now, the whole thing was staged but the only difference was Em wasn't supposed to get Bruno's behind. I don't know the whole story of course but I did find this pretty funny, yet annoying. Personally I wasn't a big fan of Sacha to begin with but I did find Borat amusing the first time. His Bruno character basically has the same style, but just as a gay person. Eminem was a good sport especially since we know Em can do crazy really well but he didn't, and also Sacha if he was supposed to do something a certain way but didn't then well he is kinda stupid. As a person you are being given an opportunity to create some comedy and free marketing for your new movie, but you decide to take it over the top which could bring you down. Oh well, let's see how this develops as both men are good at what they do.

Andre 3000: Rap is Good

Well Andre 3000 from Outkast left his opinion about how the rap game is going, and I feel his opinion is real good. Here is the link to it which I got from Rap Basement, and he basically says rap is in a good place. Andre stated that he doesn't listen to current rap music, but feels rap music is for people to tell it like it is, and not just sell millions of records. Interesting perception.....

Jay-Z & Eminem

Sorry about the minimum number of posts lately but I've been a little busy with some job stuff. Anyways, to break out into the rap world, Jigga and Eminem performed on stage together on the West Coast. This was real cool and showed that these 2 men, no matter how big they are, still have respect for each other.
